The Amazing Race Canada in Vernon: an amazing experience

Aug 9, 2022 | 6:00 AM

There is a heightened level of interest locally in this evening’s “The Amazing Race Canada” as the popular show touches down in Vernon.

The episode will air tonight at 9 p.m. on CTV, and will also be available online through CTV.ca or the CTV app.

At least two local businesses are having viewing parties: Don Cherry’s Sports Bar in the Prestige Vernon Lodge is hosting an event starting at 6 p.m. and the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans are planning to show the episode with their event starting at 5 p.m.

While the producers haven’t officially disclosed the locations used in the production, it is known that contestants visited Davison Orchards, the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club, Sovereign Lake Nordic Club and a local paragliding company.

Steve Sinclair from the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club took part in the shooting of the episode.

“It took about five hours in total. The contestants didn’t realize at first the balls are weighted, so you have an in-turn and out-turn like in curling. They were treating it like bocce,” Sinclair told Vernon Matters.

He couldn’t tell his employer or anyone else about the episode until the filming was completed as the producers wanted everything to be as natural as possible.

Each team had to score five points before receiving their pass to move on.
