Renovations are nearing completion at what will be the 29th Cactus Club Cafe in Western Canada.

The B.C.-based restaurant chain is converting the former Temptasian Restaurant property on Anderson Way in Vernon with a projected opening this fall.

The Cactus Club Cafe chain of restaurants originated in North Vancouver. It was founded in 1988 by two former Earls waiters, Richard Jaffray and Scott Morison.

The company has started the process of staffing up for the opening, no small feat in the current labour market, and something that is bound to affect other local pubs and restaurants as employees jump to the well-known brand.

The company’s two restaurants in Kelowna perform exceedingly well, and it’s considered one of the top places for hospitality staff to make a better than industry standard living.

The company is currently hiring for all positions, from chefs to management.

Employees are offered mentorship programs, leadership training, and top performers are even given a chance to have an equity stake in the company.

Cactus Club also supports several key programs in the sustainability area including Ocean Wise, Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, Raised by a Canadian Farmer, Biodegradable Products Institute, National Farm Animal Care Council and The Green Table Network.

The company is now accepting applications at this link.
