Lavington Fire Hall celebrates 50 years of service
In 1972 Don McLean’s number one hit American Pie” was playing on 940 CJIB, the fashion was mini and maxi skirts, knee high socks, bell bottom pants, Tie Dye, peasant shirts and lots of polyester.
For residents of Coldstream’s Lavington neighbourhood, 1972 was also a year to be remembered and celebrated as the Lavington Fire Hall officially went into service to reduce response times and better protect the community.
The Coldstream Fire Department had been chartered in August of 1961, at a cost of $35,000, and both halls are now part of the same service.
This Saturday (July 9), the Lavington Fire Hall is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a community day.
