Tolko invests $150 million in Mississippi mill
Vernon’s Tolko Industries has announced a $150 million U.S. expansion of the mill in Ackerman, Mississippi, which is a joint venture with Southeastern Timber Products.
The investment is the next step in an expansion project that will upgrade the mill from a capacity of 120 million board feet to 250 million board feet annually. The project will conclude in the first quarter of 2024.
“We’re excited to be moving to the next stage of this expansion,” Tolko CEO Brad Thorlakson said. “We first announced our partnership with STP in November 2018 and are happy to reinvest in the community as well as help strengthen and expand the local job market.”
The Ackerman mill employs 150 people and currently produces 100 million board feet of southern yellow pine products.
