Friends of a Kelowna man who died while snowboarding at Big White last week have started a GoFundMe in his memory.

The donations to the fund for Ryan Fletcher will go to Central Okanagan Search and Rescue who found his body.

Close to $6,000 had been donated as of 5:00 p.m. Jan. 4, with a stated goal of $40,000.

The 42-year-old Fletcher was a Big White season pass holder for many decades.

“On December 26, 2021, our world lost an amazing man. Ryan took one last run on Biggie and our world became a darker place,” said fund organizers Katy Drago and Sonya Barker.

“Ryan lived for adventure and fun and he was known for his easy laid-back attitude and warm laugh. Ryan loved outdoor adventure, his numerous hobbies included surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, boating, and wake surfing,” the friends stated online.
