Do Not Consume notice lifted for Killiney Beach water system

A Do Not Consume Notice originally issued for the Killiney Beach water system on Sept. 2 has been rescinded.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan lifted the notice following discussions with Interior Health.

The removal of the notice means that all water from the taps in the 295 properties in the Killiney Beach subdivision is considered safe to consume.

The RDCO states that the White Rock Lake wildfire and the fire-suppression efforts compromised the system. That led to the entire water system needing to be thoroughly flushed and chlorine dosed, and then have a detailed assessment of the system’s infrastructure and reservoir completed.

“We thank all Killiney water customers for their patience and understanding throughout this ordeal as we have been working towards restoring safe, drinkable potable tap water,” said RDCO Engineering Services Manager Travis Kendel.

“This has been a major inconvenience for all and we want residents to know that we and Interior Health keep their health and safety at the paramount as we worked through the process to remove all water quality advisories.”
