Habitat assessments on Vernon and BX Creeks to begin Oct. 25

Baseline habitat assessments will be conducted at both Vernon Creek and BX Creek next week.

The assessments are required from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to better understand impacts and improvements from adjacent projects. They will be done in Polson Park and BX Dog Park.

City Crews are expected to be conducting the assessment at BX Dog Park on Monday, Oct. 25, and will then be at Polson Park from Tuesday, Oct. 26 to Thursday, Oct. 28.

The City of Vernon asks that the public stay away from the flagged and fenced off portions of the parks while the assessments are being done to ensure public safety is maintained and an accurate assessment is completed.
