B.C. COVID update Friday: 45 new cases

While the numbers are still fairly low, Interior Health is still leading the province in new COVID-19 cases.

The health ministry reported 45 new cases Friday, with 19 from residents in Interior Health (42 per cent).

There are currently 661 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 73 individuals in hospital and 19 in intensive care.

The new/active cases include:

* eight new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 170

* 14 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 248

* 19 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 181

* no new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 30

* four new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 21

* no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: 11

In the last 24 hours, no new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,760.

As of Friday, more than 5.5 million COVID vaccine doses have gone into arms in B.C.: 78.6 per cent (3,643,110) of those 12 and older have received their first dose, and 41.3 per cent (1,915,919) have had two doses.
