It is well known that the restaurant business has had a tough go during the COVID-19 pandemic with some help coming from government and some coming from loyal customers.

In Armstrong, help has come to one business in the form of many little hands.

The Maven Lane Early Learning and Childcare Centre had heard that Armstrong’s legendary little cafe ‘The Brown Derby,’ had run out of bags for their brown bag lunches they have been selling to keep some revenue coming in with the indoor dining shut down.

“We heard that our neighbours at The Brown Derby had run out of bags for their take-out brown bag lunches. The children decided to bring them more brown bags, and spent the morning colouring them to make them “fancy for everyone in Armstrong to have a nice lunch,” Maven Lane posted to their Facebook page.

Eight children and one teacher walked the bags over to the restaurant to the delight of the owners.

“Tara, Neil and I would like to thank All the children and teachers at the amazing Maven Lane daycare. You will never guess what they did. Well I will tell you. Do you remember that we ran out of Brown Bags,( give you a second) Anyway, the children brought us a stack of Brown Bags which they covered with their Art. Amazing! So a big Brown Derby thank you to amazing children of Armstrong,” the restaurant posted to their social media.
