Lifetime honourary member of B.C Conservatives passes
The B.C Conservative Party is honouring a man with a long history in B.C politics.
The party said Ian Pyper, a key campaigner for conservatives in the province, has passed away at his home in Victoria at the age of 91, following a lengthy illness.
Pyper was born and raised in Kamloops, attended Kamloops High School, and then went on to study law at the University of British Columbia.
It was in his teen years in Kamloops when he first became involved in politics, eventually going on to become heavily involved in the campaigns of Kamloops Member of Parliament E. Davie Fulton, the Honourable John Fraser, and Douglas Jung, who became the first Chinese Canadian to be elected to a legislature in Canada.
