Famous board game gets a Vernon treatment

If you like playing the board game Monopoly and love Vernon, this could be the board game for you.

Instead of buying ‘Park Place’ you could buy ‘Ellison Park.’

Victoria-based Outset Media has partnered with Walmart Canada to launch a limited-edition board game based on the world famous Monopoly game that showcases some of the great things Vernon offers.

Vernon-Opoly takes a local spin on the classic version of Monopoly by making the locations for sale crucial aspects of the Vernon community. The locations included in Vernon-Opoly are the Powerhouse Theatre, Planet Bee Honey Farm, Ellison Provincial Park, Sovereign Lakes Cross Country Ski area and many others.

The company specializes in board games and has been putting out different versions of Monopoly featuring cities across Canada.

Board games have experienced something of a resurgence as a result of COVID-19, as people spend more time at home.

“Outset Media is excited to be part of celebrating the great cities and towns across the country. The game is available now online at Walmart.ca for $29.93 plus tax.

Salmon Arm and Kelowna have both received the Monopoly treatment, and there is also a Canada-Opoly game.
