New scoreboards for local ball fields

Vernon City council is ready to play ball when it comes to new scoreboards at two local fields.

The Vernon Minor Baseball Association has been successful in obtaining sponsorship of $23,000 for two scoreboards at Lakeview Park and two scoreboards for Marshall Fields. The association has also raised funds for half of the installation cost.

The scoreboards will support Vernon Minor Baseball and other recreational leagues.

Vernon councillors voted to support $30,000 for half the installation cost and $6,000 per year to maintain the scoreboards.
