Cyclist hit by vehicle, taken to hospital

A female cyclist was taken to hospital after a collision with a vehicle in Vernon.

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. Monday on 30th Street near the entrance to the Fruit Union Plaza.

The woman suffered unknown injuries.

The vehicle driver stopped at the scene as police investigated.

It’s unknown if the cyclist was wearing a helmet.

BC Emergency Health Services said the woman was in stable condition when she was taken to hospital.

Police received a report of a collision between a cyclist and a vehicle near the 30th Avenue exit of Fruit Union Plaza on October 5th,” said RCMP Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer. “At approximately 12:50 p.m., frontline officers attended the location and interviewed witnesses on scene.  A 56-year-old female cyclist was taken to hospital by BC Ambulance Service for non-life threatening injuries.  The incident is still under investigation.”
