Delfing provides option for fiscal conservatives in Vernon-Monashee

A man who describes himself as a lifelong conservative will run for the British Columbia Conservative Party (BCCP) in Vernon-Monashee for the provincial election.

Kyle Delfing’s inclusion into the race Friday brings the number of candidates in the riding to four with Liberal Eric Foster, Harwinder Sandhu of the NDP and Keli Westgate of the Green Party.

The BCCP said Delfing turned in the required 75 signatures to Elections BC on Friday (Oct. 2) and was formally notified of his acceptance Saturday morning.

The party said Delfing ran as a candidate in the last federal election (for The People’s Party of Canada) and attracted attention as a serious, well spoken individual with a natural ability to convey a message. He is a local business owner, family man, and lifelong conservative.

“I was impressed with Kyle during debates during the last federal election debates,” said Scott Anderson, who ran for the BC Conservatives in Vernon Monashee in 2013, acted as Interim Leader of the party from 2017 to 2019, and currently sits as a two-term city councillor in Vernon. “I’m confident he will represent the Conservatives well.”

“I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with the role of candidate for this great party,” said Delfing. “My intention is to offer a home for all fiscal conservatives, including the thousands of former BC Liberals who have simply given up on the Liberals.”

“I believe that this is the time for all small c conservatives to unite under a party that represents them, instead of having to hold your nose, abandon your core beliefs, and vote for a party led by a Trudeau Liberal, a party that first installed and still defends the hated carbon tax, a party that has remained silent as the NDP and the federal Liberals pile up debt that our kids will have to pay off,” continued Delfing. “The BC Conservative Party is the Right Choice – Right Now.”

The 42nd British Columbia general election will take place on Saturday, October 24.
