Stolen vehicle brings police back to Brooks Lane

RCMP were back in the area where an armed standoff took place last month in Vernon.

Police were advised of a suspicious vehicle in Okanagan Landing around 7:30 a.m. Monday (Sept. 21) and located the vehicle on Brooks Lane.

“The vehicle was confirmed stolen from a neighbouring jurisdiction,” media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said. “The vehicle was recovered and the owner was notified. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.”

The site was believed to be where an RCMP emergency response team barged into a home on Aug. 19 looking for Robert Gordon Heltman who is wanted for breaching his release conditions, but he still has not been located.
