The Vernon Vipers scored three power play goals en route to a 4-2 win over the Wenatchee Wild at Kal Tire Place Tuesday night.

The win gave the Vipers a 2-1 lead in their best of 7 series with their U.S opponents.

Landon Fuller, Matt Kowalski, Ryan Shostak and Connor Marritt, into an empty net, scored for Vernon before a crowd of 1,489.

Noah Lugli and Nick Cafarelli replied for the Wild.

Reilly Herbst made 24 saves for the win in net, while Vernon fired 25 shots on Daniel Chenard.

Vipers head coach Jason McKee says it was a game that saw several momentum changes.

“They work hard. That’s a hard working team and we’re in a series. Our guys are matching them too and this is playoff hockey. It’s tight and hard to score five-on-five and special teams were good for us tonight and were probably the difference in the game,” said McKee.

Game 4 is Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Vernon, with the pre game show on 1075 Beach Radio at 6:45.

In the KIJHL playoffs, the Kelowna Chiefs defeated the North Okanagan Knights 6-1 in Armstrong, giving the Chiefs a 3-1 series lead with game 5 at the Rutland Arena Thursday.
