Josh Kagan scored two goals to power the Nanaimo Clippers to a 3-2 win over the Vernon Vipers Friday night.

The Winnipeg native’s second goal came with just 36 seconds left in the second period and put the Clippers up 3-1.

Connor Marritt got his 15th of the season six minutes into the third but that’s as close as Vernon would come before a crowd of 1,965 at Kal Tire Place.

Matt Kowalski scored his team leading 25th goal 57 seconds into the game, only to have Nanaimo’s Liam Ryan reply 32 seconds later.

Next up for the Snakes will be the Trail Smoke Eaters Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kal Tire Place.

Kent Johnson, the BCHL’s leading scorer, had 3 goals and 1 assist in the Smokies 5-4 win over West Kelowna.

In other action Friday, Penticton Vees edged the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 3-2 on Danny Weight’s 24th goal in the first overtime.

In the KIJHL, The Revelstoke Grizzlies defeated the North Okanagan Knights 4-1 in Armstrong.
