Nico Somerville scored 1:07 into the first overtime to lift the Penticton Vees over the Vernon Vipers 2-1 at Kal Tire Place Wednesday.

The Vipers can thank their goalie, Reilly Herbst, for getting the single point as the Colorado native stopped 44 of the 46 shots fired at him by the Vees, earning first star honours.

The Vipers managed 25 shots on Vees puckstopper Yaniv Perets.

JoJo Tanaka-Campbell scored Vernon’s lone goal 1:54 into the game watched by 1,762 fans on Wacky Wednesday, a new promotion for the final two Wednesday home games by the Vipers where everyone gets in for $5.
