Update 1:30 p.m.

Highway 97A south of Enderby has reopened to single lane alternating traffic.

Update 1:15 p.m.

RCMP in Vernon/North Okanagan say there are collisions ‘all over the place.’

“With the snow falling so quickly, the roads are slippery in a lot of places,” Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy told Vernon Matters. “Motorists need to slow down and take their time.”

Noseworthy says RCMP are on scene at a two vehicle collision on Highway 97A just south of Canyon Road in Enderby.

“A power pole has been damaged and the road is currently down to one lane while the incident is being managed. No word on injuries at this point,” Noseworthy added.

Drive BC says Highway 97A is closed between Stepney Cross Road and McLeod Road due to a “vehicle incident” with the next update at 2:45 p.m.

Update 12 p.m.

Drive BC says Highway 97A is closed in both directions due to a vehicle incident between McLeod Road and Stepney Cross Road from 5 to 11 km’s south of Enderby.

A detour is in effect via Stepney Cross Road for northbound traffic.

Drive BC says its next update will be at 2:45 p.m.

A motorist in the traffic lineup tells Vernon Matters the closure is due to a downed telephone pole across the highway.

11:45 a.m.

Another snowstorm has hit the region.

Environment Canada is forecasting snow until early this evening, with about two centimetres expected for the Vernon area, and up to five centimetres for areas like Enderby and Lumby.

Meantime, Vernon Matters had a call from a motorist about traffic being at a standstill on Highway 97A south of Enderby around 11:30 a.m.

There was apparently a long backup of vehicles.
