Vernon drops on dangerous city list

Vernon is a safer community to live in now compared to one or two years ago — according to an annual report of Canada’s most dangerous cities.

Macleans Magazine ranks Vernon as 44th based on the crime severity index, down from 25th last year and ninth in 2017.

The report lists Quesnel as B.C.’s most dangerous city in fifth place overall, while in Canada, the top two are Thompson, Manitoba and North Battleford, Sask.

Kamloops is 67, Penticton 104 and Kelowna is 139 of the 237 cities included.
