Vernon fire crews are on the scene of a major house fire in the Upper Mission Hill area.
The fire is at a home at 3755 Commonage Place and it is consuming the structure with crews trying to keep it from spreading to other nearby houses.
Thick black smoke can been seen coming from the area.
Fire crews have been seen knocking on neighbors doors.
A woman said she heard a big boom prior to fire starting.
There is no word on any injuries at this point.

Vernon fire crews are responding to a report of a fire in a yard in the Mission Hill area.
Thick black smoke can been seen coming from the city in the 3700 block of Commonage Place.
Vernon Matters has a reporter on the way to the scene.
