Staggered Start Times Considered For Schools

High school students in the Vernon School District could be starting their day a little later.

The district says they are looking into staggered bell times which would shift the start time for students by 30 minutes.

The suggestion was brought forward by the school board’s Transportation Committee at Wednesday’s meeting, noting there is a lot of research that supports the educational benefit of allowing teenagers to sleep in.

The time change would also allow District staff to pick up elementary school students first and then the high school students.
