No arrests have been made as police investigate a shooting at a home on Kelowna’s Baron Road Thursday evening.

“On January 31, 2019 a short time after 9:30 pm, RCMP were called to a private residence located in the 1900 block of Baron Road for a report of a wounded male discovered at that location. Police arrived on scene where they found a man and a woman conducting chest compressions on an unconscious male in cardiac arrest,” says Cpl.Jesse O’Donaghey.

A 41 year old man suffered life threatening injuries after being shot.

“He was rushed to hospital, in critical condition by BC Ambulance Service, where underwent emergency surgery,” says the Corporal.

Police say the actions of first responders and two people who helped at the scene likely saved the man’s life.

“The heroic actions of the man and woman who initially discovered the victim, combined with the actions of the Kelowna RCMP general duty Sergeant, who took over CPR and the BC Ambulance paramedics may have saved the man’s life,” adds O’Donaghey.

Officers say the investigation remains in it’s early stages, as police continue to examine the scene for physical evidence and canvass the area for witnesses.
