Roads Closed, Transit Stopped For Parade

Drivers and transit users are being advised about road closures that will impact travel during the Winter Carnival parade Saturday.

The City of Vernon says roads will be closed from 8 am to 2:30 pm for the area west of 25th Street, north of 29th Avenue, east of 32nd Street, and south of 43rd Avenue with RCMP volunteers manning road closure barricades to allow emergency access if needed.

“Drivers are encouraged to use Hwy 97 (32nd Street) for north-south travel or use alternate routes if travelling downtown,” says a City news release.

The parade starts at noon near Seaton Secondary and goes south on 27th Street to the courthouse and then turns west into the downtown.
