YLW Adding Another Low Cost Airline

YLW Adding Low Cost Airline

Jan 31, 2019 | 10:26 AM

Kelowna International Airport has reached an agreement with ultra-low-cost-carrier Canada Jetlines to operate out of YLW.

The company is still completing licensing and regulatory approvals, but plans to operate flights across Canada, and to the US and Caribbean, using Airbus A-320 planes.

Airport director Sam Samaddar says it’s good for residents and visitors.

“We’re excited to welcome a new airline to the community. Adding another ultra-low-cost-carrier to YLW will give residents more flight options, and visitors more opportunities to experience all that the Okanagan has to offer,” says Samaddar.

“Jetlines is thrilled to announce future ultra-low-fare service to the Kelowna International Airport,” says Javier Suarez, Jetlines CEO. “The Okanagan region represents a very significant leisure market for Canadians and we look forward to helping more people get to visit the country’s only desert. We firmly believe that our fares should stimulate more tourism and travel in the region.”
