City Gives Approval For Two Pot Shops

Jan 25, 2019 | 6:30 AM

Enderby council has given the green light for two cannabis stores in the city, which now have to get provincial approval.

Mayor Greg McCune says one at 612 Cliff Avenue is proposed by Earth to Sky Cannabis in an old building that currently has a restaurant at front, and the backside would be used for the pot shop entry.

“It ended up barely passing. It was a 4 to 3 vote, but it did pass. I believe (the proposed owner) already had a permit. The province had given him 8 permits to operate somewhere in the province,  and out of those eight, he decided to pick Enderby as one of the location,” McCune tells Beach Radio News.

The other one the city is backing back is at #4-802 George Street.

A proposal for a cannabis store from Lepton Enterprises at 900 George Street was rejected by council.

“There was just too much opposition from that neighborhood,” says McCune. “There is a church and a daycare in that area, and those people were strongly opposed.”
