Ammonia Leak At Plant

The new Veg-Pro salad products plant in Coldstream had to be evacuated today after an ammonia leak at the facility on Ricardo Road.

Coldstream and hazardous materials experts from Vernon Fire Rescue attended the scene.

Coldstream fire chief Dave Sturgeon says the leak in the refrigeration system was stopped and mechanics are on site fixing it.

“It was a self venting leak, and we were able to go in and isolate the leak, so we basically got it stopped. The refrigeration mechanics are on site is fixing it now,” Sturgeon tells Beach Radio News.
