Free Disposal of Major Appliances in RDNO
Starting January 1, 2019, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) will be accepting major appliances free of charge at all Diversion and Disposal Facilities as a result of a new partnership with the Major Appliance Recycling Roundtable (MARR) stewardship agency.
The RDNO will decommission the major appliances on site, and the scrap metal will be recycled.
“The agreement helps twofold – by signing on to the MARR program and removing the fee for dropping off major appliances, we will continue to divert major appliances from the landfill in a more affordable way for residents.
We hope the program will also deter people from illegally dumping their appliances since it is now free and easy to dispose of them responsibly”, said Kevin Acton, Chair of the RDNO Board.
