School Bus Safety Campaign Launched

The North Okanagan Shuswap School District is moving forward with a bus safety program.

District 83 Superintendent Peter Jory says it’s necessary after their buses were hit five times in the last 13 months, along with numerous reports of drivers passing buses with the flashing red lights on.

“This type of driving practice poses risk to our children and we need to start raising awareness.”

Jory says the district will be working with RCMP, has cameras in some of the buses, and will be doing an information and enforcement campaign to raise awareness about driving safety around school buses.
