Update: Armed Robbery Suspect At Large

Police say a second suspect in an armed robbery case that played out in Enderby has still not been apprehended.

The robbery was committed in Salmon Arm Monday, and the suspect’s getaway truck rammed into four police vehicles and three civilian cars in Enderby, causing significant damage, but no injuries.

One man was arrested while another eluded police.

“The second suspect is still outstanding,” says Cst. Kelly Brett in an email to Beach Radio News Tuesday morning.

Mounties say two suspects used pepper spray to rob a delivery person who was dropping off parcels in Salmon Arm, and then fled south.

Enderby Mayor Greg McCune says despite the suspect still at large, he doesn’t think there is widespread fear in the community, feeling the suspect has likely hitched a ride out of the area.

“The person likely made it back to the road, and someone travelling by said, ‘I’ll pick this guy up.’ The one is in custody which is great, because we hope that person will maybe say who they were hanging out with.”

McCune says it’s fortunate no one was hurt.

“It was a fascinating incident where they happen to be rolling through Enderby and the RCMP spot them.”

No other details have been provided by RCMP.

A manhunt continues in Enderby with police looking for an armed robbery suspect.

The robbery was committed in Salmon Arm this morning, and the suspect vehicle — a white Ford pickup truck — was spotted by police going southbound on Highway 97A near Enderby, where Mounties tried to stop it.

“In its attempt to flee from police the suspect vehicle rammed what is believed to be four police vehicles and three civilian vehicles, causing significant damage,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.

The crash occurred at Highway 97A and Canyon Road by the Tim Hortons.

Brett says “a multi-unit police response was initiated” including the assistance from the RCMP Police Service Dog and the RCMP Air Services Unit.

“Officers were able to track the vehicle to the end of Jack Pine Rd, where it came to a stop and both suspects fled on foot.”

One man was taken into custody by the police dog team.

“At the time of writing, one suspect remains outstanding and officers are still heavily engaged in this investigation,” says Brett. “Further information will be distributed once available.”

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are currently engaged in an incident that occurred after an alleged armed robbery took place in Salmon Arm, BC.

The investigation into an alleged armed robbery that took place in Salmon Arm BC, earlier this morning, led officers of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, Enderby detachment, to engage with a suspect vehicle that was last seen heading south from Salmon Arm, BC. Shortly after the alleged robbery, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP officers located the suspect vehicle, a white Ford pick-up truck, travelling south bound on Highway 97A when it attempted to flee from police after a vehicle stop was initiated. In its attempt to flee from police the suspect vehicle rammed what is believed to be four police vehicles and three civilian vehicles, causing significant damage.

A multi-unit police response was initiated including the assistance from the RCMP Police Service Dog and the RCMP Air Services Unit. Officers were able to track the vehicle to the end of Jack Pine Rd, where it came to a stop and both suspects fled on foot. One male was taken into custody by PSD Cain and his handler.

No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident.

Police have yet to issue any details, but social media has been buzzing about an incident in Enderby

Unconfirmed reports say several police vehicles were damaged in the incident near the city’s Tim Horton’s at Highway 97A and Canyon Road.

“Our car was hit at the flea market. We watched the truck ram multiple police cars,” says one person on Facebook.

There are other unconfirmed reports that one person was taken into custody at the site, and that one may still be at large.

Beach Radio News has requested details from Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
