Fentanyl Trafficking Arrests

Two men have been arrested after a police probe into a fentanyl drug trafficking group in Vernon.

A 50 year old man suspected of selling drugs from his vehicle was  arrested on 43rd Street Wednesday.

“Through further investigation, officers were lead to an address on Browne Road, in Vernon, where a 25 year old male was arrested in connection to the drug trafficking group,” says Cst. Kelly Brett. On (Thursday), officers executed a search warrant at the Browne Rd address where numerous items were seized including; a large quantity of what is believed to be fentanyl, two restricted handguns, a large quantity of Canadian Currency, body armour and other items related to drug trafficking.”

Both men, from Vernon, have been released from custody on conditions to appear in court at the future date.

The 50 year old is facing possible charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and the 25 year old could be charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and other firearm related charges.

“Our targeted policing unit continues to work against drug trafficking by intercepting and investigating criminals who operate in our city,” says Sgt. David Evans. “Getting a large amount of fentanyl and firearms off the street is important for public safety, which remains our top priority.”
