Update 11:15 am

A plane missing since November of last year on a flight from Penticton to Edmonton has been found.

Months of searching for the aircraft with 2 people on board found no sign of it.

RCMP Constable Spencer Lainchbury says it was located late yesterday  purely by happenstance.

“So there was a BC Ambulance Service helicopter flying to a crash in Field just East of Golden yesterday and just on their way back to Kamloops they spotted the wreckage.”

It’s in a remote area of Glacier National Park near Revelstoke.

“It is a remote area. They just happened to spot a white and Burgundy plane with the tail marker that matched that of the missing plane.”

The plane was a Mooney M20D with the markings of C-FESN.

It’s not clear if the site of the crash was part of the search grid at the time or in various searches since.

On board was pilot, 28-year-old Dominique Neron from Parkland County Alberta and passenger, Ashley Bourgeault from Edmonton.

Currently the site of the plane crash is being accessed to conduct the investigation in partnership the BC Coroners Service.

The RCMP have not said if the remains of the couple have been located.
