Public Hearing Set For Spall Housing Development

The District of Spallumcheen is moving ahead on a proposal for the first phase of a large housing development in the southeast sector.

Mayor Janice Brown says 1st and 2nd reading was given to zoning amendments.

“We have the southeast sector on the east side zoned as small holdings or will be zoned as small holdings so that they could put a, I don`t want to call it a subdivision because there`ll be two acre lots or two and a half acre lots.”

The area is long McLennan Road.

“Hopefully, you know in the future, there’ll be I’m going to say up to 300 homes up there. But right now it’s about 42 for the first phase of it.”

There is no water system there and the developer will need to put in a water and waste water system.

A public hearing will be held August 9th.
