Update: Water Restored After Line Break Causes Water, Traffic Issues

Irrigation water is back on to Agricultural customers of Greater Vernon Water located south of Blue Jay Subdivision to the Rise Subdivision after yesterday’s water main break.

The Regional District of North Okanagan says the main has been repaired, refilled and the pressure has been restored.

When the main burst yesterday morning, water was sent spewing high into the air, closing Old Kamloops Road in the area for awhile.

The break caused a geyser-like burst of water that could be seen from as far away as Highway 97.

The line was moving non-potable water intended for irrigation.

The Regional District of North Okanagan is advising agricultural customers south of Blue Jay Subdivision to the Rise Subdivision that their irrigation water could be disrupted until late today or early Thursday morning.

The road is said to be open to vehicles with single lane alternating traffic.

10 am:

Crews are working to repair a water line break on Old Kamloops Road in the Vernon area.

The City of Vernon says drivers can expect traffic interruptions and single-lane alternating traffic.

Disruption of irrigation water from Alexis Park to Blue Jay Subdivision is also anticipated.

“Please be patient and obey all signs and flaggers,” says a City release.
