Tax Deadline Day

Vernon City Hall — and other municipal offices — will likely be busy today.

It’s the final day for paying your municipal taxes, without being assessed a 10 percent penalty.

Vernon’s Manager of Revenue Service Cindy Barker says, as of last Friday morning, 67 percent of property taxes had been collected and processed, meaning about a third had yet to pay.

Barker says about 362-thousand dollars in penalty fees were assessed last July.
