Enderby Crash Example Of Need For Alert Driving

Jun 4, 2018 | 11:27 AM

RCMP say an accident in Enderby Friday shows why motorists need to be extra alert as traffic flows increase into the summer months.

Six vehicles collided on Highway 97-A at Fenton Road just before 7 pm after north bound traffic stopped for a vehicle that was attempting to make a left turn.

The driver of a pick-up truck couldn’t stop in time, causing chain reaction rear end collisions.

Three vehicles involved in the collision veered off the road in an attempt to avoid the collision, but wound up colliding with both stationary vehicles and on-coming south bound traffic.

“A red Chevrolet pick-up travelling south bound was towing a boat at the time it was struck, causing the pick-up to lose the boat and trailer which ended up in the ditch.” Says Constable Kelly Brett. “It is very fortunate there were only minor injuries with one person being transported by BC Ambulance Service to the local medical facility.”

Injuries were minor and only one person was taken for medical treatment..

One driver was issued a ticket for following to close under the Motor Vehicle Act.

A fence was damaged by one of the vehicles.
