Man Dies After Being Hit by Train: Update

Police now say the man who died after being struck by a train outside Chase Friday afternoon is 59 and say he was from the Lee Creek area, northeast of Chase and have not released man’s name at this time.
Mounties say the man was walking eastbound on the tracks when he was struck and died at the scene.

Chase RCMP received a report of a pedestrian being struck around 4:40 p.m. Friday approximately 5 km west of the village.

CP Police services also attended the scene, and Chase RCMP performed CPR on the man until Air Ambulance arrived and pronounced him deceased.

Police believe the man was walking on the railway tracks when he was struck by an eastbound train.

The man was seen earlier near the intersection of Shuswap Avenue and the Trans Canada Highway in Chase.
