Enderby Checks Climate Control

Provincial and Federal governments aren’t the only governments keeping track of their carbon emissions.

Cities and towns have an incentive under the Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program to check their carbon footprint.

Enderby is getting a grant of four thousand 178 dollars and 47cents for its efforts.

“We identify everything from idling vehicles by our staff through to who rides their bikes to work through to how our buildings are operating. You know have we changed our filters . Are they functioning to the best of their ability.”

Mayor Greg McCune says it may seem like a small amount but it verifies the community is thinking about the future.

McCune says maintaining and improving community assets play a large role.

“So, in our water system for example we’ve made some, even with the flooding, we’ve made some nice changes that will minimalize the usage of it. It won’t be running full speed ahead all the time.”

The mayor says the city is always looking for technology advances.

The city has several action plans for the balance of the year ranging from improved lighting and heating to maximizing green space and promoting active modes of transportation with a goal to reduce automobile dependence.
