Charges have been laid against two men in connection with a cold case murder in Vernon dating back to 1986.

Paramjit Singh Bogarh has been charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to murder his wife, Saminder, the victim in the case.

Charges have also been laid against Narinder Singh Bogarh although he remains out of the country, according to Dan McLaughlin of the BC Prosecution Service.

“Paramjit Singh Bogarh has been extradited from the United States and is now before the court in Vernon on a two-count information alleging that he and Narindar Singh Bogarh, on or about December 31, 1986 at or near Vernon, did commit the first degree murder of Saminder Kaur Bogarh,” said McLaughlin in an email to Beach Radio News. “Saminder Kaur Bogarh was the spouse of Paramjit Singh Bogarh.

“Both accused are also charged with conspiring to commit the murder of Saminder Kaur Bogarh between November 1, 1986 and December 31, 1986, in Vernon and elsewhere in Canada.”

McLaughlin said Paramjit Bogarh has been ordered to be held in custody and will next appear in court by video on Thursday.

“The BC Prosecution Service continues to pursue the extradition of Narindar Singh Bogarh,” McLaughlin stated.
