Patients Return To Hospice House

May 24, 2018 | 12:45 PM

Things are getting back to normal at Vernon’s Hospice House with the return of patients after a two week relocation.

Nine patients were moved to Vernon Jubilee Hospital on May 9th due to rising levels of BX Creek which runs nearby the facility.

Society care team leader Elsie Swartz says with the recent stabilization of creek levels, Hospice has welcomed its patients back and is accepting new admissions.

“Our number one priority is safe, quality care,” says Swartz.“We are grateful for the quick response from Interior Health’s exceptional health-care professionals and the City of Vernon’s Emergency Preparedness team in our time of need. We wish to thank everyone involved for ensuring that a high level of safety, care and comfort was maintained for our patients and their families during the relocation.

Swartz also thanks their staff, volunteers and the community for their ongoing support.

“We look forward to resuming our regular operations and welcoming everyone back to Hospice House.”

The North Okanagan Hospice Society is a registered charity that operates a 12-bed palliative care facility on 27th Avenue.
