RBC Cup Begins Tonight in Chilliwack, With a Humboldt Broncos Nod

Beginning this weekend, Chilliwack hosts the top teams from the Canadian Junior Hockey League for the 2018 RBC Cup.

The nine-day event features the hometown Chilliwack Chiefs as host, along with the Ottawa Junior Senators, Wellington Dukes, Wenatchee Wild and Steinbach Pistons.

The tournament runs from May 12-20, with 13 games scheduled.

These include the Chilliwack Chiefs’ tournament opener at 7 p.m. tonight, along with two semifinals, and culminating in the nationally televised championship game at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20.

The RBC Cup opening ceremonies will include an acknowledgement of the Humboldt Broncos, and green #Humboldtstrong tee shirts will be handed out to fans on opening night.

The Broncos won the title in 2003 and 2008, but were denied two consecutive titles losing to Vernon in 2009.
