Lumby Issues Evacuation Alert
Lumby is taking no chances with rising water levels.
The Village has activated its emergency operations centre to level one, and has issued evacuation alerts for 160 homes and businesses along the creeks.
Village administration says the water levels are continuing to increase as a result of the spring run off and today’s significant rain.
“It is quite precautionary. We do want to take a cautions approach with where the levels are now, and with the rain event we just experienced, and what may yet be to come. It is precautionary, but we think it’s in the best interest of Lumby to have this in place,” Jeremy Sundin, the village chief financial officer tells Beach Radio News.
