Full Closure On Kal Lake Road Takes Effect

May 7, 2018 | 11:41 AM

The City of Vernon says a full road closure on Kalamalka Lake Road from Browne Road to the Alpine Centre will be in effect from now until July 6th, 24 hours a day.

Up until now, some vehicles have been using the route at night and on weekends, but as of today,  the city says only vehicles travelling to residences within the closed portion will be able to use it.

“Effective immediately, the closed portion of the road will be reduced to single lane traffic (one-way traffic) in the southbound direction. As no through traffic will be permitted, all traffic is required to use the detour routes. A 4 metre wide walking/cycling path will be provided throughout construction, 24 hours a day.”

Businesses will be open and accessible on both sides of the road closure.

Work on adding a multi use path from Browne Road to the Vernon-Coldstream boundary at Alpine Centre began April 9.

Detours are available on routes like College Way, Husband Road and Aberdeen Road in Coldstream.
