The City of Armstrong find itself with a safety issue on local road that has seen increased traffic and pedestrians over the years.

The city received a letter from a long time resident of Rosedale Avenue West, explaining how the lack of a sidewalk has created an issue.

Mayor Chris Pieper admits it’s become a problem from the Len Wood School playing fields.

“It’s a very narrow old road. There’s no sidewalk on it. As you mentioned there was a lot of snow this year, so it was almost a single lane road with a lot of students walking on it.”

Pieper says it will be looked at for improvement.

“I think extensive snow this year and snow removal problems with high snowbanks. We want to be, we don’t want to be reactive, we want  to be proactive and make sure nobody gets hurt.”

Pieper says public works will be taking a look at it and he hopes to have money in next year’s budget for it

The city is also being urged to put up no parking signs on both sides of the road to help prevent accidents.
