Kalamalka Pathway Work To Begin In Coldstream

Apr 30, 2018 | 7:10 AM

Coldstream Council has awarded a contract for its portion of the Kalamalka Road Pathway and Rail Trail parking lot.

KLL Construction will do the work.

Mayor Jim Garlick says project is estimated at 951 thousand 535  dollars, including 240 thousand dollars in gas tax funds.

” We want to get started on the road work in front, the offsite work, then we’re going  to move on to the parking lot next. We want to get off the road and have that work done when the city of Vernon has finished their section.”

The path will run from the Vernon Boundary to College Way.

Work should begin May 1st with completion due by July 1st.

Jim Garlick says the contractor will then start work on the Rail Trail parking lot.

“What we’re trying to do is keep it as generic as possible. It’ll serve the purpose for now.  But we are looking at moving forward with having the possibility of commercial aspect on the north end.”

That could be something bike or tourist related.

The Mayor says the district is eyeing all possible connections with Rail Trail and making improvements that are necessary.
