Vernon WALK For ALS In Jeopardy

Jan 24, 2018 | 8:19 AM

The call is out for volunteers for Vernon’s Walk For ALS.

It’s planned for June 9th, but organizers say it could be cancelled if they don’t get enough people volunteering.

The Walk is one of many planned across the country to raise money for research into ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

It is a terminal neuromuscular disease that causes the voluntary muscles (those that move legs, arms, tongue, lungs…) to progressively weaken and eventually die.

ALS not only affects those living with it, but their family and friends.

There is no cure yet.

Funds are also used to provide support and equipment for people living with ALS.

If you can help, you’re asked to contact Danielle Capa, ALS Society of BC at 1-800-708-3228 or email support@alsbc.ca.

The WALKS for ALS are the largest fundraising event in Canada for ALS.
