Vernon Gets Grant For Housing Strategy

Vernon has received federal funding which will help determine the next step for the city’s housing strategy.

Annette Sharkey from the Social Planning Council says part of the 50-thousand dollar grant from Service Canada will be used to hire a consultant to update the strategy.

” So to have someone come in. Take a look at what we’ve done, look at our data. We do collect a lot of data. Look at our evaluations and help us to figure out what’s our next focus.”

Sharkey says the consultant will be able to evaluate the plan and provide suggestions, based on current best practices in housing
