New Lakeshore Park in Works

The City of Vernon is proceeding with plans for a new park along Okanagan Lake.

The City has produced a preliminary design for several properties along Lakeshore Road that includes picnic tables, bocce courts, a parking lot, naturalized areas, and gathering spaces.

Construction on the park will begin this summer and is expected to be completed this fall.

“This park is the first phase of a larger park planned for Lakeshore Road, with more phases to come in the future,” says a City release. “The City will be following best practices and obtaining a riparian area report as well as reviewing wildlife and dangerous trees in the area. The provincial Ministry of Environment and the Archeology Branch will be notified and plans will be submitted for their review.”
