Alcohol Involved In Rollover Crash

Jan 19, 2018 | 9:27 AM

Police say alcohol was  factor in a single vehicle rollover crash on Silver Star Road Thursday night.

A male driver told police he hit a patch of black ice, lost control and flipped his vehicle near Forsberg Road around 11:30 pm.

The 24 year old driver was not injured, but showed signs of using alcohol, and failed two roadside breath tests.

The Vernon man was issued a 90 day driving prohibition and a 30 day vehicle impoundment.

He was also given violation tickets for not having a valid driver’s license, and driving too fast for the conditions.

“The driver sustained no injuries as a result of the collision and is very lucky he or other motorists on the road were not injured,” says Vernon RCMP Cst. Kelly. Brett. “The road coming from the popular ski resort is usually well maintained, however black ice is often hard to see. Après ski is often part of the ski culture, however if you are going to consume alcohol, please arrange for a safe and sober ride home.”
