Trustee-Reduction Plan On Hold

The official trustee of the North Okanagan Shuswap School District is still waiting for a response from BC’s Education Minister.

Mike McKay recommended to the minister last month that the district change to a five member board, with each trustee responsible for a larger area.

That’s down from the previous nine trustees.

McKay says he hopes to hear back soon, to give anyone considering running for trustee enough notice, with elections this October.

“McKay also added that the district is planning on having some sessions in April or May on the roles and responsibilities of being a trustee for those considering running,” says a School District 83 news release.
